We’re continuing our journey through the Call of Duty Universe, this time by playing “Call Of Duty: Finest Hour” from 2004 on the PS2.
In this episode we get some background into the events that lead up to Russian Soldier Aleksandr Sokolov arriving in Stalingrad as he has to fight his way up the banks of the river Volga taking out German soldiers on the way.
I had the controls set up incorrectly in this portion of the game and was having to use the R1 button to fire instead of the Right Trigger – it made things a bit problematic!
The graphics are passable considering this was released 20 years ago (feel old yet?) but the control interface is really clunky when it comes to aiming – it’s certainly a step back from the first Call of Duty game which seemed to allow for more accuracy.
Interesting fact: This game cost $8 million dollars to make, despite the developer Spark Unlimited only being given a budget of $2 million by Activision – Whoops! That’s a bit of an overspend!
